Introduction to Mechatronics is an online, on-demand 35-hour course for learners who are interested in a career in mechatronics and advanced manufacturing and have little to no experience in the field. Learners can work at their own pace, and a learner who spends about 8 hours a week on the course will complete the course in 4-5 weeks.

This course provides an intensive introduction to the skills necessary in the mechatronics industry including math, inspection, safety, quality, electrical systems, automation, mechanical systems, and fluid systems. Mechatronics-driven jobs are sometimes advertised as robotics technicians, equipment maintenance technicians, or even machine technicians. Companies like General Mills, General Foods, Target, Amazon, Frontier Airlines, Black + Decker, and other advanced manufacturing companies hire critical roles in mechatronics.

After This Course, You Will Be Able To
  • Explain what mechatronics is and describe the function of mechatronics in advanced manufacturing.
  • Explain different jobs available in the field of mechatronics.
  • Identify what kinds of knowledge, skills, and experience are needed for a career in mechatronics.
  • Describe the role of safety in mechatronics and explain basic safety procedures and PPE.
  • Identify the role of basic math in mechatronics and complete basic operations in fractions, decimals, percentages, and basic geometry.
  • Describe procedures for accurate measurement and measurement conversion.
  • Describe key skill areas in mechatronics and explain core concepts for each, including electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical drives.

I would certainly recommend this course to anyone looking to get into Mechatronics. It was extremely insightful across the board from the narrating to the visual demos and I found the various simulations to be very helpful as well.
