Course Details

Foundations of Automated Equipment Maintenance is a 40-hour self-paced online course that introduces learners to the foundational knowledge and skills of equipment maintenance. People who work in automated equipment maintenance can work in a range of industries, including advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, supply chain and logistics, smart batteries, renewable energy, electric vehicles, aviation, medical device manufacturing, and food and agriculture production.

Learners will begin with an overview of automated equipment maintenance and a thorough grounding in industrial safety, including machine, equipment, and material handling safety. They will learn about tools, materials, and measurement with an introduction to blueprint reading and dimensions. Then they will focus on five areas of foundational knowledge and skills: pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical circuits, mechanical drives, and robotics. This course provides a thorough introduction to the foundations of automated equipment maintenance.

The material in this course is aligned with SACA standards, and learners who complete the course successfully will have completed more than half of the learning objectives for the SACA Certified Industry 4.0 Associate I and II courses. Foundations of Automated Equipment Maintenance uses learning materials and module assessments from Amatrol and other learning sources, such as video and print. The course is fully asynchronous and remote; learners can learn at their own pace. A learner who works on the course for approximately 8 hours a week can complete the course in 5 weeks.

The course is assessed by a final quiz on each individual module. Learners need to achieve 80% or higher on each final quiz to be successful and have three attempts to pass each quiz.

Eligibility

There are no prerequisites for Foundations of Automated Equipment Maintenance; however, learners should be familiar and comfortable with basic math, including operations, fractions, decimals, and percentages. Learners who would like to upgrade their math skills have the option of completing a 5-hour math add-on. Learners must have an adequate computer system and internet access for connecting to Talent LMS and Amatrol.
