Introduction to Biomedical Equipment Maintenance is a 40-hour online, self-paced course. This course introduces learners to core concepts of biomedical equipment maintenance and prepares them for the first steps in further education towards a career as a biomedical technician, working in a hospital, clinic, or other healthcare facility.

The course focuses on six key foundational areas needed for biomedical equipment maintenance: fundamental skills, electrical and electronic systems, mechanical systems, fluid systems, computer and network systems, and communication. After completing this course, learners will be prepared with the foundational knowledge and skills needed for further training towards maintaining biomedical equipment.

The course is aligned with SACA certification, and learners who successfully complete the course will have completed a portion of the coursework for the SACA credential Certified Industry 4.0 Associate. The course does not provide SACA certification; learners who wish to become certified will need to complete one or more SACA exams.
